Aspen; Denver, Colorado’dan yaklaşık bir saatlik uçuş mesafesindeki Rocky Mountains bölgesinde saklı kalmış küçük bir gümüş madenciliği kasabası. Sahip olduğu kristal toz kar, dört kayak dağı (Aspen Mountain, Snow Mass, Buttermilk and Highlands), birinci sınıf restoranları ve butikleri ile zengin, meşhur ve her şeyden önemlisi eğlenceli bir yer. Burada yapacak o kadar çok şey var ki zaman asla yeterli olmuyor. Size göz açıp kapayıncaya kadar bu şaşırtıcı küçük kasabaya alışacağınızı söylerken ne kadar ciddi olduğumu buraya varır varmaz anlayacaksınız. Amerikan lüksünün zirvesinde bu kasabanın gerek yamaç kenarındaki gerekse dağların üzerinde yer alan evleri aklınızı başınızdan alacak. Şanslıysanız, en sevdiğiniz film yıldızlarından birini buz tutmuş gölün üzerinde bir polo maçında yakalayabilir veya zamanınızı bir kaç inanılmaz sanat galerisini gezerek geçirebilirsiniz. Aspen, dünyanın en büyük ve en iyi bilinen gurme festivali olan Yemek ve Şarap Klasiğine (Food and Wine Classic) ev sahipliği yaptığından, Michelin yıldızlı şeflerin bu küçük kasabayı kışlık ev olarak adlandırmak istemeleri hiç de şaşırtıcı değil. Burada en çok neyi beğenirsiniz bilmem ama bence her yönden güzel. Tekrar gitmek için sabırsızlandığım bir numaralı kayak mekânımdaki favori restoranlarıma gelince, işte onlardan bazıları…
Winter is here!! And so is ski season. One of the most magical places I have ever been for a ski trip is Aspen. Aspen is a little silver mining town that is tucked away in the Rocky Mountains about a 1-hour plane ride from Denver, Colorado. It is known for having powder snow, four ski mountains (Aspen Mountain, Snow Mass, Buttermilk and Highlands), world class restaurants, boutiques, the rich, the famous and most of all fun. With so much to do there is never enough time and when I tell you that you get used to this amazing little town in the blink of an eye I mean it. It is American luxury at its height. The slope side houses and the ones that are located up on the mountains will blow you mind. If you are lucky you might catch one of your favorite movie stars at a polo match on the iced over lake or just spend your time strolling some amazing art galleries. Aspen is the home of the largest and most well-known gourmet festival in the world- the Food and Wine Classic so it’s no wonder that Michelin star chefs love to call this little town home for the winter. Whatever you like the city is beautiful in every way. I can’t wait to go again. Here are some of my favorite restaurants for my number one ski spot!
J-Bar in the Jerome Hotel

Ben, öğlen yemeği için kasabanın en iyi, sulu ve üstüste konulmuş tüm malzemelerle oldukça güzel görünen hamburgerini yemek için gidiyorum. Ayrıca Hotel Jerome, tatile gelenler için muhteşem Noel ve Yeni Yıl akşam yemekleri sunmakta.

Izgara ıstakoz, ton balığı burger, kıymalı sandviç, midye, balık çorbası ve tarak, bu keyifli restoranın mönüsünde yer alan mükemmel yemeklerden bazıları, ayrıca kokteyller de muhteşem. Personelin çok cana yakın işine hâkim olduğu mekân rustik şık iç tasarımıyla oldukça çekici. Tüm deniz ürünleri Maine Daily’den taze olarak getiriliyor. Damariscotta Mari kültür çiftliğinin istiridyelerinden bahsetmiyorum bile. Zengin bir bara ek olarak, Moscow Mule dâhil olmak üzere en tepede büyük hacimli kokteyller ile dört imza var! Kesinlikle eğlenceli bir yer.

Fransız soğan çorbası, bir kap varoluş mutluluğu. Burada işlerin kötü gitmesi oldukça zor.

Highlands’ın tepesinde yer alan bu Avrupa tarzı samimi ahşap kulübe, ikonik Maroon Bells dağ tepelerine bakan, dünyanın en güzel teraslarından birine sahiptir. Bu kesinlikle otantik Avrupa Alplerine özgü, ama en iyi kısmı, kayak sonrası aktivite ortamı Kuzey Amerika’daki tüm dağlar içinde bir numara seçilmiş olması.

Chef Chris Latner opened this new place in the Inn at Aspen at Buttermilk. The smoked meats are definitely the highlight, but sides and salads are also a draw. If you have a soft spot for finger licking BBQ, look no further you are at the right place.

This original Colorado concept brings top notch sushi and other staples of the famous Japanese chef Nobu straight to the heart of Aspen. A historic, bluebell-hued Victorian on the corner of Main and North Monarch it is a place that is always busy. Stand-outs other than the sushi bar include the broiled black cod with miso, and lobster tacos. Definitely a place to see and be seen.

Since 1889, this has been one of Aspen’s most prominent social locales (during Prohibition, it served up the “Aspen Crud,” a spiked milkshake still on the menu). It’s still a favorite amongst the local crowd as well as celebs, but the scene is laid-back and the décor all about the Old West. Don’t miss the ornately-carved back bar, Chinois Erie Chippendale bar, stamped ceiling, and intricate crown moldings. I come to lunch for the best burger in town: a juicy, stacked beauty with all the fixings! If you are there for the holidays the Hotel Jerome serves up some beautiful dinners for Christmas and New Year’s.

The stacked chicken sandwich, burgers, and monster salads have made this little restaurant a place that everyone knows. The menu, is brief but covers all the bases- the wine and cocktails list have more to offer and the blonde-wood-paneled walls make this rustic space a relaxing place to hang for a casual lunch or dinner. If you can manage a table outside you can check out the views of Aspen Mountain. This is the spot we come back to every time we’re in town.

Don’t be intimidated by the legendary reputation of The Little Nell. Ajax is the place where the party is happening. This indoor/outdoor eatery at the base of the Silver Queen Gondola is always packed, but it’s about the food and drink as much as the scene. You can’t go wrong with the raw bar, dreamy chicken liver pâté, or salads.

The staff is so friendly and clued-in, and the rustic-chic interior is super sexy. All the seafood is flown in fresh from Maine Daily. Not to mention the oysters from a Damariscotta Mari-culture farm. Besides a full bar, there’s four signatures, large-batch cocktails on tap, including a Moscow Mule! Definitely a fun place.

Ski bums and late-nighters would go hungry without this Aspen institution. What’s not to love about delicious, big slices served till 2:30am? For a “cheap” meal, order up a pie and a pitcher, but remember things get really hopping when the bars close. You may wait in line for 20 minutes or more.

This cute little French creperie is the real deal. Fun, cozy, intimate, euro-alps atmosphere with Alps inspired cuisine. A huge menu of some amazing crepes all cooked to order. Unquestionably the most adorable, romantic little restaurant in town. You’ll feel like you’re dining in a chalet in the French Alps. Take in the dark, weathered wood paneling and homey décor (bistro glasses, fresh wildflowers on every table, firewood stacked in front of the tiny open kitchen). The French onion soup is a crock of existential bliss. It’s hard to go wrong here.

You can only get to this mountain top restaurant by snow cat or skis! Best known for classic fondue, raclette and apple strudel and of course popping a bottle of Champagne on the terrace in the afternoon! This cozy, European-style cabin located at the top of Highlands has one of the most beautiful terraces in the world looking out over the iconic Maroon Bells mountain tops. This is definitely authentic European Alpine, but the best part is the après ski scene voted number one of any mountain in North America.

For over 25 year’s this elegant little French spot has remained one of Aspen’s top dining establishments. While the roast chicken gets a lot of press, there’s lots to love about the intense menu. Care for some wine? There are 5,000 bottles to choose from in the cellar. If the weather is nice, try to get a spot on the patio.
